Nigeria leads the way as the country which has the highest number of influential figures, taking up a whopping 23% of the list with an incredibly wide spread over all categories, as well as dominating the business scene. A police helicopter has crashed into a pub roof on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow. The aircraft struck The Clutha in Stockwell Street which was packed with drinkers at the time. One image of the crash on social media sites showed the dark blue helicopter on the roof with yellow "Police" insignia on part of the wreckage. Emergency services were unable to confirm if there were any injuries, but there are reports that people may be trapped in the venue, where a local band were playing on Friday evening.

Spanish scientists have designed small synthetic molecules that can block the replication of the deadly AIDS virus.  The newly designed molecules inhibit the output of genetic material of the virus from the infected cell nucleus to the cytoplasm, thus the virus replication is blocked and avoids the infection of other cells. This achievement has been obtained for the "first time in the world" by a group of researcher led by Jose Gallego from Universidad Catolica de Valencia. A Mozambique Airlines (LAM) plane with 28 passengers and 6 crew on board has gone missing on a flight to Angola, say airline officials. Flight TM470 left Mozambique's capital, Maputo, at 11:26 local time (09:26 GMT) and was due to arrive in the Angolan capital, Luanda, at 14:10.

The Nigerian Federal House Committee on Diaspora has described the increasing numbers of Nigerians in foreign prisons as “ridiculously embarrassing”. The Chairman of the committee, Abike Dabiri- Erewa, made this disclosure after the committee’s visit to two prisons in South Africa where 409 Nigerians are being held for various offences. She was accompanied on the visit by, Ajibola Famurewa and Umaru Shinkafi, both members of the committee, consular officers of the Nigerian Embassy, and executives of the Nigerian Union in South Africa. The committee during an interaction with some inmates, were told that although some of them have completed their prison terms,they were being kept in Jail.

Bishops should lift their official ban on ceremonies to mark civil partnerships and the relationships of gay and lesbian churchgoers, a long-awaited CofE report said. It signalled an end to the Church’s longstanding insistence that gay relationships are sinful and less worthy than heterosexual marriage. The report, written by former civil servant Sir Joseph Pilling and a team of senior churchmen and women, may now open the way for a reversal of the CofE’s opposition to same-sex marriage and the eventual appointment of actively homosexual priests and bishops.

Policeman Commits Suicide in Taraba Government House

A policeman, Corporal Samuel Milar, in the early hours of Thursday, shot himself dead inside the Taraba State Government House, Jalingo. Though the reasons for killing himself is yet to be ascertained, Milar, who was one of the security detail attached to Governor Danbaba Suntai, shot himself at about 6:15 am with his rifle shortly after signing for the rifle at about 5:52 a.m.

Spanish Police have arrested three Nigerians accused of kidnapping two Nigerian children to force their mothers into prostitution. They are charged with tying the children up, and drugging and starving them in a flat in Valmojado in the Toledo region in central Spain.
