Hopes Despair As Malaysian Airlines Still Missing.

Chinese authorities have stepped up security at the country's airports, following the disappearance of a plane travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT on Friday) with 239 people on board. It had been expected to land in Beijing at 06:30 (22:30 GMT).

Malaysia's transport minister said there was no information on wreckage.

A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is missing, the airline confirmed. The Boeing 777-200 aircraft had 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members on board, the airline said in a statement. The passengers were of 13 different nationalities."Our team is currently calling the next-of-kin of passengers and crew," the airlines' group chief executive officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, said in a statement.

The celibate Dalai Lama has thrown his considerable moral weight behind gay marriage, condemning homophobia and saying sex was fine as long as it was consensual.The Dalai Lama, in an interview, said that gay marriage was up to each government and was ultimately "individual business". "If two people – a couple – really feel that way is more practical, more sort of satisfaction, both sides fully agree, then OK.
