Mozambique Airlines Plane Missing With 34 People On Board

 
A Mozambique Airlines (LAM) plane with 28 passengers and 6 crew on board has gone missing on a flight to Angola, say airline officials. Flight TM470 left Mozambique's capital, Maputo, at 11:26 local time (09:26 GMT) and was due to arrive in the Angolan capital, Luanda, at 14:10.

The Nigerian Federal House Committee on Diaspora has described the increasing numbers of Nigerians in foreign prisons as “ridiculously embarrassing”. The Chairman of the committee, Abike Dabiri- Erewa, made this disclosure after the committee’s visit to two prisons in South Africa where 409 Nigerians are being held for various offences. She was accompanied on the visit by, Ajibola Famurewa and Umaru Shinkafi, both members of the committee, consular officers of the Nigerian Embassy, and executives of the Nigerian Union in South Africa. The committee during an interaction with some inmates, were told that although some of them have completed their prison terms,they were being kept in Jail.

Former world champion boxer Herbie Hide has been jailed for selling cocaine after a court heard he fell for a sting operation set up by an investigative journalist known as the Fake Sheik. Hide arranged to supply the class A drug to Sun on Sunday reporter Mazher Mahmood after a series of meetings at a hotel near Norwich in January and February. Read Here

Gay couples should be allowed to have their relationships blessed in church, the Church of England said yesterday. Bishops should lift their official ban on ceremonies to mark civil partnerships and the relationships of gay and lesbian churchgoers, a long-awaited CofE report said. It signalled an end to the Church’s longstanding insistence that gay relationships are sinful and less worthy than heterosexual marriage. The report, written by former civil servant Sir Joseph Pilling and a team of senior churchmen and women, may now open the way for a reversal of the CofE’s opposition to same-sex marriage and the eventual appointment of actively homosexual priests and bishops.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday apologised for the comments (Here) he made to a widow in Benin during an inspection tour on Mission Road, in the state capital, a fortnight ago. Oshiomhole said that he now regretted the comments which had become the subject of discourse in the social media. The Governor, however, noted that he made the comments in anger.

Policeman Commits Suicide in Taraba Government House

A policeman, Corporal Samuel Milar, in the early hours of Thursday, shot himself dead inside the Taraba State Government House, Jalingo. Though the reasons for killing himself is yet to be ascertained, Milar, who was one of the security detail attached to Governor Danbaba Suntai, shot himself at about 6:15 am with his rifle shortly after signing for the rifle at about 5:52 a.m.

Spanish Goverment Arrests Three Nigerians For Forcing Women To Go Into Prostitution.

Spanish Police have arrested three Nigerians accused of kidnapping two Nigerian children to force their mothers into prostitution. They are charged with tying the children up, and drugging and starving them in a flat in Valmojado in the Toledo region in central Spain. Five other women were freed by police in three other Spanish towns in the same operation.

A man believed to be in his 70s, who claimed to.be a wizard, was on Wednesday found on the banks of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region..The man, who gave his name as Charles Atta, looked frail, pale and bore protruding breasts like that of a teenage girl. His body was smeared with mud from the bank of the river where he was found by two brothers, claimed they found the strange man crying for help.
