Eagles in flight scare
Two separate Calabar bound aircrafts conveying Super Eagles stars Elderson Echiejile, Shola Ameobi and another with Nnamdi Oduamadi on board from Lagos avoided disaster yesterday. The players were aboard the flights enroute to Calabar for Saturday’s World Cup qualifiers against Malawi were forced to change destination, as heavy storm prevented the flights from landing at the Calabar airport. The flights were, however, redirected to Port Harcourt, where it landed safely after two failed attempts in Calabar. Rattled by the flight incidents, Eagles forward, Nnamdi Oduamdi had opted to embark on a four-hour journey by road to Calabar. His teammates, Ameobi and Echiejile were believed to be waiting for an all-clear signal before attempting a return to Calabar with the flight.
