Women Protest In The Ekiti State Capital Over Killings In The North

First Lady Bisi Fayemi Addressing The Women
Just like they did in Lagos today, thousands of women, outraged over the recent spate of killings in Northern Nigeria by Boko Haram, rallied in the streets of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State today to protest. Wearing black clothing and singing songs of solidarity and waving placards, the women were led by the Governor's wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and the Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu.
The First Lady, Mrs. Fayemi told the crowd that only with women's solidarity, improved security network and eternal vigilance would the killings be stopped.“We have decided to speak with one voice to say enough is enough. Let’s put a stop to the killing of these innocent children; let us stop the massacre of the these innocent souls."
Deputy Governor Adelabu said, "The activities of these sects can best be described as a satanic invasion of Nigeria. We call for prayers and urge women in the society and every Nigerian to rise and speak against this evil belt in spilling the bloods of innocent people in our country."One source said the women called on the Federal government to equip security agencies with more sophisticated equipment in fighting the insurgents in the northern part of the country.
