Ugandan President Blocks Anti-Gay Rights Bill.

Uganda's president has refused to approve a controversial bill that would see homosexuals jailed for life, saying there were better ways to "rescue" people from their "abnormality". In a letter to parliament, Yoweri Museveni said gays would go "underground and continue practicing homosexuality or lesbianism for mercenary reasons", according to the independent newspaper, Daily Monitor.

Six federal lawmakers on Thursday escaped unhurt (Read Here) at Wasimi Market Square, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State, following a bloody clash between factions of the All Progressives Congress, APC. A senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly, Gbenga Obadara, was billed to hold a meeting with party members at the market square when they were attacked by gun-wielding thugs. Eight people were reportedly shot including Sunday Akinbode, a police sergeant attached to Mr. Obadara, who was shot in a region close to his private part; Lasisi Bayo; Dapo Soyinka; and Femi Babalola.
All the victims were rushed to Mercy Hospital in Abeokuta where they are currently receiving treatment.

Again the outlawed Boko Haram sect attacked Banki, a border town in Bama Local Government Area of Bornu State killing people at will, moment after they sacked the only police station in the town. However, some residents who spoke on condition of anonymity, said many people were killed by the sect members, who went from house to house slitting  their victims’ throats in the siege that lasted over an hour in the earlier hours of Wednesday.

As South Africa heads for nail-biting 2014 general elections Archbishop Desmond Tutu has pulled up a suprise by announcing the formation of a Gay political party called Democratic Religious Alliance Against Minority Antagonism (DRAAMA). “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven… No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to hell… I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.”His passion on the issue has led him to form the world’s first gay political party affectionately named ‘DRAAMA’, an acronym for Democratic Religious Alliance Against Minority Antagonism [D.R.A.A.M.A].  ZM.

Late Arinze Ejiofor is the father of  Hollywood actor Chinwetelu Ejiofor, who's receiving accolades for his portrayal of Solomon Northup in the movie twelve years a slave. The actor lost his dad in 1988 in an accident while on holiday in Nigeria. Apparently he was a Highlife musician as well as a doctor.

3 Year Old Nigerian Boy Dies In Lift Shaft.

                                    
The Irish Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has begun an investigation after a three-year-old boy died in an incident in a lift in Galway city centre. Solomon Soremekun died after falling into the lift shaft at the Hynes Building on St Augustine Street on Monday afternoon. Gardaí (Irish police) said his death was a tragic accident. HSA inspectors are trying to establish how the boy fell into the lift shaft. The three-story building remains closed to the public while examinations continue. It is understood the boy's family were visiting the Department of Social Protection office in the premises at the time. The toddler suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Former Playboy Playmate Found Dead In Friends Home.

                                              
Playboy Playmate and model Cassandra Lynn Hensley was reportedly found dead on Jan. 15 in her friend’s bathroom, police sources reportedly told TMZ. The cause of death is not yet known. Cassandra, who was Miss Feburary 2006 was reportedly floating in a bath tub, and her friend called in the report as a possible overdose. Paramedics arrived at the home and she had already passed away. According to the report, no foul play is suspected. Cassandra leaves behind a daughter, her age is unknown.

Prominent Lawyer Slumps And Dies In Ondo State.

Another tragedy has befallen the people of Ondo State as a prominent legal practitioner in Owo local government area of Ondo State, Barrister Olufemi Adeyeri yesterday slumped and died in the community magistrate two court. Adeyeri, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was said to be coming out of the court after he was done with his case when he slumped. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre by sympathizers and some of his legal colleagues, including the former Owo local government NBA Chairman, Mr. Kola Olawoye, but he was confirmed dead by the doctors on arrival. Late Adeyeri, a former candidate of Owo local government constituency I, under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2003, was said to be hale and healthy before he passed on.
