The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered 3kg of methamphetamine hidden inside a luggage containing female hair attachment. The Spokesman for the agency, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, made this known in a statement he issued in Lagos and made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.
Ofoyeju said that NDLEA officials detected the drug at the Cargo Section of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja. He said that the banned drug was meant for export to South Africa, adding that the agency had already arrested a 37-year-old freight forwarder in connection with that. “During interrogation, the suspect claimed he collected the bag containing the drug at Yaba, Lagos, from his friend who is also his customer. “He claimed he was paid to send the bag to South Africa as an unaccompanied cargo. “He is currently being investigated; he will be charged to court soon,” Ofoyeju said.
