Social Democratic Party (SDP) was launched yesterday in Abuja led by SDP National Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, who also announced the party’s manifesto and condemned the recent spate of cross-carpeting that had seen prominent politicians defecting across party lines into new parties.Falae said the revived organisation had zero tolerance for corruption, and warned politicians with such tendencies to steer clear of the group. According to Falae, SDP returned to the political scene in order to bring sanity to the way politics is practised. The party urged Nigerian youths to seize the future in their hands, by forming cells of the party.
“To the youths, we say you are no longer powerless. Get together and form SDP clubs everywhere; in your polytechnics, colleges of education, universities, factories, markets, farms and villages. Take your future into your own hands and register yourselves and your SDP clubs with our interactive website, www.sdp.org.ng.”
Pinning the party’s ideology on social democracy, the Chairman said, SDP made its first appearance in Nigeria in 1989 and quickly became the dominant party of that time. I dont want to sound negative but i dont think they would go very far.....APC is the party to beat though i might be wrong. Vanguard
