Baby Born Not Breathing Takes Breath 28 Minutes Later - Called A 'Miracle' By Doctors

Doctors and family members are celebrating the miraculous birth of a baby girl who was pronounced dead not long after birth and suddenly started breathing 28 minutes later. Robin Cyr is counting her blessings and thanking God for what she calls a miracle in her daughter's life.


Cyr went into labor with her fourth child, but during labor the baby girl became wedged in the birth canal and struggled to breathe once born. "My aunt looked at me and said, 'Your baby girl's gone,'" Cyr told Metro News. Nurses came and took the baby's lifeless body out of the room but quickly returned with seemingly impossible news. "Another nurse came over, two minutes later … she couldn't talk. She was speechless, and another nurse came over and said, 'Your baby's breathing.' He [the doctor] said it's a miracle. He said, 'I'm very sorry I gave up on your baby when I did, because I turned around and she's breathing on her own.'"
The little girl, although not so little at 9 pounds, 14 ounces, is breathing on her own in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital. While the doctor cannot figure out what caused the change in the infant's status, Cyr knows what saved her baby girl: prayer.
