Kanye West Wins Law Suit Against Coinye Makers.
Kanye West has declared legal war on the people who released a virtual currency (like a bitcoin) called Coinye West. West filed legal docs in NY trying to get a judge to force the people behind Coinye to immediately SHUT DOWN the marketing and sale of the virtual currency, which can be used to buy goods and services through various online merchants.
The "coins" -- which feature a South Park-esque depiction of Kanye sportin' stunner shades -- were first offered to the public for sale on January 7 and Kanye says. The Power rapper didn't have to wait too long, as the popular digital money was shut right down. Kanye's lawyers filed the suit in the Manhattan Federal court against the Coinye creators for the Kanye-themed cash, which only existed online, and they almost immediately shut it down. Now on the website, hopeful buys can only find a cartoon image of a guy, who has his arm crossed like a security man, saying that the online currency was no longer available. The website also said: "Coinye is dead. You win, Kanye. According to the New York Daily News, the suit claimed that the Bitcoin-wannabe was damaging Kanye's reputation and brand. "With each day that passes, Mr. West's reputation is irreparably harmed," it read. "Consumers are likely to mistakenly believe that M. West is the source of these digital coins.
