A nun has given birth to a baby boy and claims she was 'unaware' she was pregnant. The 31-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in the central Italian city of Rieti after complaining of stomach pains. After initially thinking the pains were just stomach cramps, It was realised at the hospital she was actually in labour.  The woman, who is originally from El Salvador, named her child Francesco (Francis) after the current Pope, the BBC reports.  Mayor of Rieti, Simone Petrangeli, asked the public and media to respect the woman's privacy after the news caused huge public attention. Pandemonium In Maiduguri As Unidentified Bag Is Dropped Carelesssly On The Road.

                                        
There was panic at Gwange Ward in Maiduguri on Saturday as the people mistook a laptop bag at the edge of a bridge to be an improvised explosive device. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the residents of the area as well as motorists ran for safety as information about the bag spread. The entire area was immediately abandoned before the arrival of security agents who cordoned off the entire areas to prevent any eventuality. It was later learnt that the bag fell at the edge of the bridge on Lagos Street from a pick-up van conveying vegetables to a market. The driver of the vehicle, who simply identified himself as Musa, explained that the bag fell from the vehicle unknown to him, adding that it contained his shoes, cap and clothes. Musa said he planned to attend a wedding ceremony after delivering the vegetables, adding the bag did not contain any devices However, Malam Modu Mustapha, the ward head, called on the people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious movements and objects to the security agents. Formula One great Michael Schumacher remains in a "stable" condition following a skiing accident in the French Alps that left him in a medically-induced coma. The seven-times world champion has been in a Grenoble hospital with severe injuries since the accident on December 29. For the first time, his manager Sabine Kehm did not mention the word "critical" to describe his condition. In an email, she said: "Michael's family is very happy and confident with the work of the team of doctors treating Michael, and they trust them completely. Michael's condition is still considered as stable." SKY News.

Uganda's president has refused to approve a controversial bill that would see homosexuals jailed for life, saying there were better ways to "rescue" people from their "abnormality". In a letter to parliament, Yoweri Museveni said gays would go "underground and continue practicing homosexuality or lesbianism for mercenary reasons", according to the independent newspaper, Daily Monitor.

Six federal lawmakers on Thursday escaped unhurt (Read Here) at Wasimi Market Square, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State, following a bloody clash between factions of the All Progressives Congress, APC. A senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly, Gbenga Obadara, was billed to hold a meeting with party members at the market square when they were attacked by gun-wielding thugs. Eight people were reportedly shot including Sunday Akinbode, a police sergeant attached to Mr. Obadara, who was shot in a region close to his private part; Lasisi Bayo; Dapo Soyinka; and Femi Babalola.
All the victims were rushed to Mercy Hospital in Abeokuta where they are currently receiving treatment.

Again the outlawed Boko Haram sect attacked Banki, a border town in Bama Local Government Area of Bornu State killing people at will, moment after they sacked the only police station in the town. However, some residents who spoke on condition of anonymity, said many people were killed by the sect members, who went from house to house slitting  their victims’ throats in the siege that lasted over an hour in the earlier hours of Wednesday.

Late Arinze Ejiofor is the father of  Hollywood actor Chinwetelu Ejiofor, who's receiving accolades for his portrayal of Solomon Northup in the movie twelve years a slave. 3 Year Old Nigerian Boy Dies In Lift Shaft.

                                    
The Irish Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has begun an investigation after a three-year-old boy died in an incident in a lift in Galway city centre. Solomon Soremekun died after falling into the lift shaft at the Hynes Building on St Augustine Street on Monday afternoon. Gardaí (Irish police) said his death was a tragic accident. HSA inspectors are trying to establish how the boy fell into the lift shaft. The three-story building remains closed to the public while examinations continue. It is understood the boy's family were visiting the Department of Social Protection office in the premises at the time. The toddler suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Playboy Playmate and model Cassandra Lynn Hensley was reportedly found dead on Jan. 15 in her friend’s bathroom, police sources reportedly told TMZ. The cause of death is not yet known. Cassandra, who was Miss Feburary 2006 was reportedly floating in a bath tub, and her friend called in the report as a possible overdose. Paramedics arrived at the home and she had already passed away. According to the report, no foul play is suspected. Cassandra leaves behind a daughter, her age is unknown.

Prominent Lawyer Slumps And Dies In Ondo State.

Another tragedy has befallen the people of Ondo State as a prominent legal practitioner in Owo local government area of Ondo State, Barrister Olufemi Adeyeri yesterday slumped and died in the community magistrate two court. Adeyeri, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was said to be coming out of the court after he was done with his case when he slumped. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre by sympathizers and some of his legal colleagues, including the former Owo local government NBA Chairman, Mr. Kola Olawoye, but he was confirmed dead by the doctors on arrival. Late Adeyeri, a former candidate of Owo local government constituency I, under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2003, was said to be hale and healthy before he passed on.
