Rivers State Assembly Majority Leader Arrested Over Double Murder.

THE Rivers State Police Command said it had arrested the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, for the alleged murder of his kinsman, Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo and a police sergeant, Urang Obediah. A statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday night indicated that Lloyd was purportedly arrested on his way to join the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in his private jet in order to escape justice.

No Plans To Increase Fuel Prices - Federal Goverment.

Since yesterday we have been hearing snippets of information that the Federal Goverment of Nigeria would increase fuel prices come 1st of January, well they have come out to say they have no plans to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly known as petrol from the prevailing pump price of N97 per litre, describing the growing fear of imminent price hike as unfounded. Thats good to know lets just hope they wont renegade on their word.

Barely 72 hours after Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, joined the micro-blogging service, Twitter, thousands of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora have extended a hand of fellowship to him by subscribing to his tweets. A check through his Twitter page shows that his followers are not limited to ordinary Nigerians who make use of the social service but include serving lawmakers in the National Assembly, past public office holders, children of past Nigerian leaders, as well as top shots in the nation’s entertainment industry.

Good News - Goverment Take Over Welfare Of Woman Battered By Employer.

                                            
There are indications that some officials, said to be from the Lagos State Government, on Thursday took over the welfare of Alexandra Ossai, a former employee with Toppan Printing Company Ossai lost her seven-month pregnancy after she was allegedly kicked in the stomach by her manager. It was learnt that the officials from the state Ministry of Women Affairs visited Mercy Hospital at Fagba, where Ossai was being treated, to pay off her medical bills. It was learnt that the officials also wanted to move Ossai to a government guest house at Ayobo where she could be cared for while recuperating. The gesture could not, however, be effected because of a doctor’s appointment that Ossai had on Friday (today). Her lawyer, Mr. Courage Erhuen, confirmed the development. Am so happy about that i hope the employer pays as well. He should not get away with it.

Hear her - the 32-year-old actress who is promoting her latest film, "Anchorman 2," spoke about why she has turned down certain movie roles that did not coincide with her Christian faith. "I have my parameters of what I feel in my spirit is appropriate," she told the LA Times. "There have been times where it's been tough because it's something I really wanted, but the nudity would be exploitative and I'd lose the opportunity, but what I've found is that the more I stick to my convictions, the more God sticks to his promises." Still, she insisted that things have always worked out for the greater good. "When I would lose something, something better would come up than what I turned down," Good told the Times. "And I've been able to pay my bills doing nothing else since I was 13." Former President Obasanjo Imposed President Jonathan On Us - Femi Fani Kayode.

                                         
Former Nigerian Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode says it is former president Olusegun Obasanjo's responsibility to help rid the country of President Goodluck Jonathan since he imposed him on the Nigerian people. He said this in defense of the former president's open letter to the president. "He more than anybody else has the responsibility- if he doesn't want to be judged harshly by history to ensure that Goodluck Jonathan does not come back in 2015", he said. Speaking on Sahara TV Mr. Kayode was full of praise for Former President Obasanjo calling his action courageous. "This is a man I've known for the past 11 years. He is not the type of man that will say something that he doesn't mean". Mr. Kayode said he believes the letter was written out of deep concern for the country.

It's a story that's sure to make you second-guess ever using second-hand furniture again. A woman who picked up a couch off the street in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was shocked to discover the furniture was home to a boa constrictor two months after she had been using it every day. Holly Wright told ABC13 on Tuesday that she and her boyfriend had given the couch a good once-over before bringing it home, never suspecting that a snake lived inside. It had a 'for free' sign on it outside someone's house and was in pretty good condition. But over the weekend the four-foot creature slithered out from the lounge.
'It's been living in the couch for like two months in my bedroom and I had no idea and it looks pretty big,' Wright said. 'It was quite cold in the room, there was no food for the snake and I think it came out of the couch because it was dying.

The US state of Colorado is making history by becoming the first to allow stores to sell cannabis. As many as 30 stores around the state are expected to start selling the drug for recreational purposes from 1 January, dubbed Green Wednesday. Colorado, along with Washington state, voted to legalise the use and possession of cannabis for people over the age of 21 in November 2012. Washington is not expected to allow the sale of it until later in 2014. Colorado and Washington are among 20 states to have approved marijuana use for medical purposes. The drug is still illegal under federal law. For marijuana's many advocates here, January 1st has been a long time coming and now that it has finally arrived it's a high point they are determined to enjoy. Oh dear i wonder if this a good thing or a bad thing?
